About your hosts and speakers:

KATHY TSAPLES:

Born to migrant parents in the suburb of Richmond, Kathy grew up learning to cook traditional Greek cuisine from her mother, recipes that have been passed down through generations.

Kathy was working in the corporate world when in April 2009, during Holy week, she was diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer. Was this an omen?… Once the shock subsided, Kathy realised there was so much more she wanted to do with her life. She had always enjoyed cooking and there could be no greater meaning for in life than to honour her mother and Greek tradition and cook and share her food for a living!

Once she had decided to pursue her dream, things started to fall into place. In 2012 Kathy opened Sweet Greek at Prahran market. The rest is history…or should we say ‘herstory’ as told in her two cookbooks that have been published since Sweet Greek started.

LEANNE USHER:

Born in the North of England in a small village where Leanne started working in hospitality from a young age. What began as a weekend job quickly turned into a passion. After having graduated at the age of 22, she made the move to London where things became a lot more serious.

In January 2011, Leanne was part of the opening team for Dinner By Heston Blumenthal, in London. Whilst the experience was overwhelming at first her desire to improve and grow within the company became her focus. With promotions and experience came other opportunities including finding herself in Melbourne where in 2015 she was involved in the opening of The Fat Duck . It wasn’t long before Leanne was offered the position of Assistant Restaurant Manager for Dinner by Heston Blumenthal, Melbourne.

Leanne has never looked back and her passion to continuously improve in such a competitive industry is part of her success. She feels being surrounding by so much talent whilst loving what you do, is what propels her to always improve and deliver the highest of standards.

CHELSEA FORD:

Chelsea Ford is a highly regarded growth strategist, coach and facilitator and is the Founder of Females in Food.

Chelsea has over 20 years of senior executive experience in dynamic organisations including Kellogg, Nestle, Spotless, Douwe Egberts and Dyson.
